We only collect information necessary to provide and enhance our digital bookkeeping, payment collection, and customer ledger management services:

• Account & Profile Information: Full name, mobile phone number, email address, business/shop name, and address provided during registration.
• Ledger & Transaction Data: Customer/party names, phone numbers, transaction amounts, credit/debit records, due dates, bills, and payment notes created by you in your ledger.
• Device & Technical Data: Device model, operating system version, unique device identifiers, IP address, app crash logs, and performance metrics.

2. Device Permissions and Why We Request Them

To deliver core app features, the Digi Bharati Khata Android app requests the following device permissions:

• Contacts (READ_CONTACTS): Used solely to allow merchants to quickly pick customer contact details (name and phone number) from their address book when creating a new ledger entry. We do NOT continuously upload, sell, rent, or share your contact book with third parties.
• Camera (CAMERA): Used when you choose to scan QR codes for quick UPI payments, take photos of physical bills/receipts to attach to transactions, or update your profile picture.
• Storage / Media: Used to save, download, and export PDF account statements, customer transaction summaries, and invoice files to your device.
• Biometrics (USE_BIOMETRIC): Used for secure local biometric app lock (fingerprint/face recognition). Biometric validation is processed entirely on your local device and never transmitted to our servers.
• Internet & Network (INTERNET, ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE): Required to securely sync ledger data with our cloud servers using SSL/TLS encryption.

3. How We Use Your Information

• To create and manage your business account and provide digital ledger functionality.
• To enable transaction recording, EMI tracking, customer billing, and payment reminders.
• To process digital payments and transaction confirmations securely via authorized payment gateways (such as PhonePe SDK).
• To provide customer support and troubleshoot technical issues.
• To maintain account security and detect/prevent fraud or unauthorized activity.

4. Data Sharing and Third-Party Services

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal or business data. We only share information with trusted third-party service providers strictly for operational purposes:

• Payment Gateways: Authorized payment partners (e.g., PhonePe) to process merchant transactions.
• Cloud & Infrastructure: Secure cloud servers for database hosting and backup.
• SMS / OTP Providers: Telecom / SMS gateway providers for OTP authentication and customer SMS reminders.
• Legal Compliance: When required by Indian law, regulatory authorities, or law enforcement agencies.

5. Data Security

We employ industry-standard administrative, technical, and physical security measures (including HTTPS/TLS encryption for all data in transit and restricted server access) to protect your information against unauthorized access, alteration, or disclosure.

6. Data Retention and Account Deletion Policy

We retain your data for as long as your account remains active or as needed to provide our services. You have the right to request deletion of your account and associated data at any time:

• In-App Deletion: You can request account deletion directly from the mobile app via Account → Settings → Delete Account.
• Web Deletion Link: You can submit a deletion request directly via our web portal: https://digibhartikhata.in/delete.
• Email Request: You can email us at noreply@digibhartikhata.in or care@digibhartikhata.in with your registered mobile number.

Upon receiving your verified request, your account and associated ledger records will be deleted or anonymized within 30 days, except where retention is required by applicable Indian tax, accounting, or legal compliance laws.

7. Children's Privacy

Our platform is intended strictly for businesses, merchants, and individuals of legal age (18+). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 years of age.

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Any updates will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. We recommend checking this page regularly.
